HRK Modus conference “Digital recognition of achievements from higher education and prior learning“

How can the digitalisation of processes in higher education administration succeed? With this question in mind the MODUS project of the German Rectors’ Conference organised a two day conference entitled “Digital recognition of achievements from higher education and prior learning“. The event took place in Berlin on 29th and 30th of September 2022.

The attendees received new impulses and suggestions relating to digital recognition. They were told that we are currently in the age of “early digitalism” and learned that sometimes “useful illegality” is just what is needed to progress. Moreover it was emphasised that it is always necessary to consider the human component in all efforts to create digital processes: Digitalisation should never use up more human resources than the paper process.

PIM was mentioned often as one possible solution. Three Student Information System providers, the Datenlotsen, CampusOnline and HIS, endorsed PIM in a joint session, thereby setting the scene for PIM’s own presentation. There was a premiere here: together the participants developed pitch decks for PIM. These are short presentations that depict the opportunities and risks in a compact form to potential interested parties. If you also want to convince yourself or your colleagues, you can find the pitch decks here: Pitch deck 1, Pitch deck 2, Pitch deck 3, Pitch deck 4, Pitch deck 5.

Overall, the conference was a great success for the MODUS project. We were very happy about the numerous positive suggestions for PIM. A report of the event and a mural generated by an artist can be found on the Modus webpage.
